Riding for the Disabled
After much hard work on the part of our Farm Manager, Wendy Self, Larkrise Farm has recently formed a new RDA (Riding for the Disabled Association) group. This activity is based at Larkrise Farm, mainly using our existing population of horses and ponies.
We are able to carry out individual and group riding lessons for our clients, and in the summer months we can also offer carriage driving for the disabled.
If you would like to take advantage of this activity, or if you would like to volunteer to be an assistant, please contact our reception.

The photo above shows our new horse, Sooty. She is a 16-hand weight-carrying horse, and she is extremely well-mannered. Why is a grey horse called Sooty? Many greys start their lives with a very dark or mottled colouring, and only lose these markings as they grow older. If you want to see, ask Wendy to show you a photo of Sooty when she was younger.

This photo shows Wendy with her own horse Eros. Eros is 14 hands and a bit, and is used for RDA riding and also carriage driving.Wendy has spent a lot of time training him for this activity.
